Time card calculator FAQ

How do I calculate hours from a time card?
For each day, subtract the clock-in time from the clock-out time, then subtract any unpaid break minutes. Add the daily totals together for the week. This calculator does all of that automatically as you type.
How is overtime calculated?
Under U.S. federal law (FLSA), overtime is typically paid at 1.5× for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek. Set the "overtime after" field to your threshold; anything above it is shown as overtime and paid at 1.5× in the estimate. Some states use daily overtime rules, so check your local laws.
Should breaks be subtracted?
Unpaid meal breaks are not counted as worked time, so enter them in the "Break" column to subtract them. Short paid rest breaks usually stay part of paid hours and don't need to be entered.
Is this calculator free?
Yes, completely free with no signup. If you'd rather not calculate time cards by hand every week, Lunra automates the whole process with a real time clock and one-click payroll exports.
